“Iranian public is not monolithic”

“Iranian public is not monolithic”
May 18, 2009, Study by Alvin Richman, David B. Nolle and Elaine El Assal
According to a World Public Opinion survey based on interviews conducted in early 2008, Iranians generally support the development of nuclear energy but not nuclear weapons. Dividing the population between Conservatives (45%), Moderates (24%) and Reformers (18%), the study finds “sharp and consistent divergence” regarding satisfaction with the election process, support for a free press, and trust in the national government. Majorities in all three groups view the US unfavorably but support trade and negotiations with the US.
